Financing has been approved by the Kansas City Council for the redevelopment of the former Northland Kmart retail site located at the intersection of Vivion Road and NE Chouteau Drive.
Cedar Falls based Lockard, an integrated real estate development company, plans a $45 million dollar retail rehabilitation to the vacated 17.65-acre property.
Anchored by Hobby Lobby, the new Vivion Point will has generated excitement among Northland residents and civic leaders. Anita Gorman and Deb Hermann, were among those who urged a council committee to approve rezoning.
“You have a winner here,” Gorman said in public testimony. “It would be hard to overstate the importance of this project.”
In addition to the retail development. Lockard will be address damaging flooding issues with $1.7 million in storm water improvements.
